DONORS AND INITIATORS

By embarking on the path of preservation and creation, we forever bind ourselves to actions that require participation, and our values take shape. A shape that is expressed in action.

Noubar Afeyan

Maxim Atayants

Distinguished architect of the Russian Federation: “Designing a church is the most challenging task for an architect. Church is God's dwelling place and a place where people say prayers. In order to have people accept it, you have to make sure the church integrates into the fantastic landscape of Dilijan, as if it has always been its part, so that it is inseparably connected to the powerful Armenian architectural tradition, so that its interior sets the atmosphere for liturgical service. I do hope that the author and the whole Armenian team under Amiran Badishyan do achieve this goal.”

Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan

Primate of the Tavush Diocese: “Dearly beloved guests! Day by day, stone by stone we witness our holy church take shape. Every single day brings us closer to the completion of the construction works. We look forward to the moment when the bells of the new church ring over Dilijan heralding the new holy site, and the revival of the spiritual life in Dilijan. Blessed is the day, when people, caring for the future of Dilijan and the Armenian world, united around this generous idea. Blessed be the moment, when the new church in Dilijan opens its doors before thousands of people, welcoming christenings, and weddings, having young people make their vows. We pray for those, who revive the spiritual life in Dilijan, hand in hand, with faith and love in their hearts. Let the blessing and the mercy of our Lord be upon you for your righteous deed and your piety. Together, we will build our home!”

Hakob Hakobyan

Entrepreneur, member of the National Assembly of Armenia of the 4th, 5th, and 6th convocations: “I have been in love with Dilijan for quite a while. Not a native of the town, I have always felt sympathy to this town, its people and its nature. That is why I have done my best to be useful to it both in terms of its economic and in terms of adding more dynamism to its social life for many years. I have joined the initiative of church-building, because I am well aware of the extent to which this town needed a spiritual center. I am sure, having a church will deepen people's faith and will help them unify for common causes.”

Ruben Vardanyan

Ruben Vardanyan, philanthropist: “There are many ancient churches and monasteries around Dilijan. But there has not been a spiritual center in the city for many decades. And the point is not that the community needs a building for performing church rites - people need something that will unite them around spiritual values. Attempts to build a church in Dilijan were made more than once, but without success. People lost faith that they would ever have their temple. Starting the construction of a church in Dilijan, we initially expected that residents, especially young people, would be active participants in this project. I dream of how today's young men and women in 50 years, bringing their grandchildren to the temple, will proudly tell them, ‘It was built by all of us, including your grandparents.’”
